Q: What is Exellan?
Asked June 04, 2008
1 Answer
A: Exellan fiber combines the best characteristics of wool, nylon and polypropylene. The Exellan yarn is put through a specific delustre process in order to make the yarn feel and look more like wool, yet will not pill or "shed" like wool rugs do. Central Oriental needed a yarn that would have a fine pencil point finish like a nylon yarn; therefore, the company produced a very fine point on the Exellan yarn in order to provide superior definition and detail in their rugs. Finally, the main characteristic Central Oriental was concerned about was durability. The polypropylene component is a very important factor as far as durability is concerned and Central Oriental, through the Exellan yarn, achieved that goal with a fiber that is long lasting, easy to clean, and has one of the best values in the market today.
