Dimensions: More Details: The Cadwell 10” wall sconce features an English Toffee with Antique Burlwood finish. The Cadwell family of light fixtures is distinguished by the exotic ornamentation of decorative cord tassels. This treatment, the addition of tassels on light fixtures, dates from the 15th century when cord tassels were added to give a touch of color, texture and visual interest to the gilded ironwork of Spanish lantern. Over the next few centuries, tassels made from a variety of fibers were added to the numerous types of interior furnishings, but reached international popularity during the mid Victorian period. At this time, tassels became associated with things Turkish and Egyptian, coinciding with the opening of the Suez Canal in 1869. Cord tassels have since never been out of fashion, and the Cadwell fixtures, with their traditionally inspired designs, continue the long-standing practice of cord tassels ornamentation.
